Jack Hill died from the ravages of beri beri, in block 3 of Rangoon Jail on this day back in 1944. He was the working leader of the Guerilla platoon under the command of Major George Dunlop. This meant that he was one of the few B.O.R.'s present in the mainly Gurkha represented column 1 on operation Longcloth.

A local man of Hounslow, he once again showed his leadership in Rangoon, by ensuring the well being of his platoon comrades, before that of himself.

    Thanks Andy.:)

George Dunlop was with Mike Calvert at the Maymyo Bush Warfare school in 1942, and I think part of the Burma retreat too. He was with the Royal Scots, I do not know anything about his earlier WW2 or Army life.

He gave an immediate debrief on reaching India in 1943 and was accused of 'washing their dirty linen in public' by a very angry Orde Wingate.
