    Excellent photos lads. I always wonder when looking at these type of photos, how many actually survived?

    Bunce was the photographer in Caterham-on-the-Hill, just across the road from the Guard's Depot. Does that fit with the Battalion's location at the time ?

    Thanks for posting the names - I think you had the same problem as I did - the whole thing wouldn't fit on my scanner!

    Thats another great picture. The PT School at Aldershot would love that picture for their museum.

    The picture says the Photograher is from Anerly Rd in SE London near where I used to live but the location has PT School, Aldershot written all over it.

    I don't suppose you know where it was taken do you ?

    By the way. PTI course was the best course I ever did in the Army :D

    Cheers for posting that !

    Hi aron,
    Thanks for putting up the names and for the other photo. I checked the names from the squad photo and was beginning to think that this may have been a lucky squad indeed, but not to be. By all means not certain, as only initials are given on this squad photos, but the names below look likely matches.

    D

    F. Smith
    poss? 2719180 Guardsman Smith F. PoW Stlg 4f joined July 1939

    H. Jackson
    poss? 2722258 Guardsman Jackson H. L. Harry 1BN joined post Aug 1940
    CWGC :: Certificate
    or
    poss? 2721690 Guardsman Jackson H. 2 Armd joined July/Aug 1940

    J. Welsh
    poss? 2722241 Guardsman Welsh James 1bn joined Aug 1940
    CWGC :: Certificate

    An unlikely one:
    Gdsn. A. Wood
    ? joined sep.oct 1939 2719338 Lance-Corporal Woods, Andrew 1bn
    CWGC :: Certificate

    I wonder if it was taken at Crystal Palace? Anerley Rd is near there and there is a tradition of a sports complex there :)
