    Today is Sereno Brett's Birthday.
Sereno was the commander of the first U.S. tank battalion to go in to combat in WWI. During the inner-war period he wrote a lot on combined arms warfare and in 1919-1920 did a cross country road march with Dwight D Eisenhower and 25-30 trucks. This was important in the US Army deciding that they needed motorization/mechanization.
By WWII he was tired and was not able to participate due to injuries from WWI (gas, etc)
I live in Oregon and he is from Oregon, so he is kind of "my guy".
He graduated from the command college with Omar Bradley, commanded George Patton's brigade in WWI after Patton was wounded, was mentioned in Patton's diaries in a positive light and is mentioned by Ike in several chapters of his books.
