My father was an army officer in the Royal Artillery, finishing as a Captain in the Formation college in Perugia in 1946. When I requested his record, I very quickly received a copy of his record, nearly all of which was in his own handwriting. Does this denote that an original was lost and he filled the replacement in himself?

As a supplementary, he volunteered in September 1939 but didn't actually start training until the next spring. Would he have been paid by the army during this period?

Hi and welcome to the forum, good luck with your research. Just a thought did you get his records from the MOD?
