    Hello ,

On October 4 , 1943 F/Sgt John Flyn was killed in action when his Typhoon ( JP668 MR-F , 245 Squadron ) went down at St Quentin au Bosc , located near Dieppe . He lays at Les Vertus , Hautot-sur-Mer CWGC cemetary .
The mayor of St Quentin would like to honour him , so as far as possible we are tracing some relatives .
John Douglas Flyn , 1291985 , was 21 when he died . Son of Arthur Sidney and Violet Alice Flyn , from Ilford , Essex .
Any help and information would be far appreciated .
    Thank you ,
    Laurent .

    John Douglas Flyn
    Father: Arthur Sidney Flyn
    Mother: Violet Alice Davenport
Birth: Oct 1922 Islington, Middlesex, England
    Death: 4 Oct 1943

He the only child of Arthur and Violet - as far as I can see - so it would be a matter of chasing up his Aunts and Uncles to see if there was any living relatives.

You say you are tracing relatives - can I ask how far you have got with that?

Might seem an odd question but why honour him now in 2021

His father Arthur Sidney also seems to be an only child as well

    Thank you TD .
The purpose is to name the party hall after him , as the mayor suggested . So you understand seeking any relatives because we lack information and pictures about him , only a poor group picture taken in 1943 . But as only child it seems hopeless .
    Thanks for your help .

If you need a photograph then I would suggest looking through the internet, searching perhaps for group photos of 245 Squadron
