hi everyone i am new to this. i am looking for answers to my grandfather's military time during ww2 as well as his brother. as far as i was told by my grandmother, both men were in the italian military - the alpine regiment for sure. my grandfather was captured and sent to a work camp . but i don't know which one. his brother was captured and sent to siberia and never heard from again. my grandfather survived ww2 and very rarely spoke about it, as most do not. i just have no idea where to start looking. i have sent numerous emails to the city and town they were born in , in italy but have received nothing in return. very frustrating. my grandparents have both passed on now. but this is now something that i want to know, so i can understand what they went through as well as understand my grandfathers time in the military. any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance ps not sure how to post new topics yet so sorry if this is in someone else's forum
Welcome! I have sent a VM to Varasc (Marco) who does some research on Italian Soldiers and may be able to help you with where to start your research. In the meantime you may want to post what info you have and maybe someone will be able to help. Cheers, Wayne

Well, I am not researching for Italian soldiers or victims, I am looking for several Allied POWs in Italy. Anyway I think our friend should click here: Ministero della Difesa - Ricerca sepolture You just add to fill the white spaces, Cognome - Surname Nome - Name Anno di nascita - Year of birth Luogo di nascita - Birthplace. Then you should receive further basic information and start with a more detailed search. Furthermore, if you are looking for a former Alpine soldier, you may write to the ANA: Ana:: Home This is the historical museum of the Alpini's website: Museo Nazionale storico degli Alpini - Doss Trento Bets regards and good luck, Marco
