    I’m new to this and just started looking for any info I can find on my Great grandad, George Shepherd. The only number I can find is 2823318. Would that be a service number?
    Any help on where to start searching would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Yes that number fits into the block allocated to those who enlisted in The Seaforths.
