Hi marshalli For some reason I cannot as yet find a record for a POW Isaac J Dignam. However for Stalag XX A there is some information that might help you, http://www.wartimememories.co.uk/pow/stalag20a.html. You may also find some of the links useful from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stalag_XX-A TD edited to add link http://www.arcre.com/archive/mi9/camphistories/thorn
Let me know if you have his battalion - I have both war diaries for this period. Failing that I would consider one of the books on St. Valery to give you an idea of what happened. Cheers Andy
I have been doing some trawling on Ancestry, and following a search of POW records for all Seaforth Highlanders, I came across what might be a record for our man - note the surname spelling UK, British Prisoners of War, 1939-1945 about I Dignan Name: I Dignan Rank: Private Army Number: 3308981 Regiment: Seaforth Highlanders POW Number: 18577 Camp Type: Stalag Camp Number: III-A Camp Location: Luckenwalde, Brandenburg Record Office: Infantry Record Office, Perth Record Office Number: 16 Some one will need to check if this is our man TD
