    Hello Mike,

Its coming on well, there was a lot to do but I didn't want one that I only had to charge the batteries on! The engine is a Gardner 6LW, a beatiful piece of engineering, they werer used extensively on fairgrounds as generators after the war and still are due to there reliability and sparse consumption. Water had got into it, one cylinder completely seized as well as the fuel injection pump, all of which I had to rebuild and it sounds so good now. Yes WW2 condition, but not sure which unit but will be in desert colours. Trailers are imposible to find, but once it is done, I might look into the posibility of making a copy of one.

So it has the original Gardner.
Nice, as that seems mildly uncommon on restored Scammells. Lots appear to have a Perkins with a bit of an extended nose to fit it in. Sounds like fairground life was a little gentler on their originality than haulage recovery work.

No idea on unit yet at all?

Blimey, Is ther much of the chasis left?

My brother spent three years restoring his beloved old Rover P6. Stripped it right back and rebuilt anything and everything. It was all taxed and everything and he was just about to take it for its first foad test when he noticed water leaking from the boot area (it had been stored out in the open, under tarpaulines for the duration of the restoration). He was unable to easily spot the problem so he unbolted the rear wing only to watch the boot area drop to the floor as the rear subframe collapsed.
    Not a happy man!

Hopefully yours is a bit sounder than his and your rust proofing a bit better! :)
