Just returned from Holland and attach a couple of photo's of Sappers mates graves at rest in Overloon cemetery. Managed to get pics of all the names you listed. Also added a pic that might interest Spidge taken at Hotton cemetery in the Ardenne. Will PM you Sapper when I have downloaded video and all pics and send you a DVD.
Good one Richard. Now I've meet Brian and learnt about his family it seems so sad that these lads had their life ended so young. How easy it would have been for Brian to have been lying under one of those headstones too. Sorry I'm waffling now.
As a aside, when we arrived at Overloon, a Coach load of veterans were there. They were Royal Norfolks, re-dedicating the memorial which had begun to deteriorate. Have video of it but forgot to take photo. Had some interesting chats with guys ages ranging from 81 to 93 !! They still called me a deadly enemy because I come from Suffolk!!! Went to the Museum there, which has been enlarged, full of vehicles and equipment, well worth a visit. Set in a large park you can always send the missus and kids off to play.
A deadly place Overloon, and the Molen Beek. A place of mines and sandy conifer woods. A absolute shocker. Mine infested........Everywhere, A continuous flood of mine victims. Sapper
Thought I might share a little of what I sent to Sapper. Overloon war cemetery, Holland, resting place of Sappers mates.
I penned an article about the loss of my mates at Overloon and Venraij. Some of them buried at Overloon. I cannot recall if I posted that story here, or not...Does anyone know? IF anyone wants to know about it I will upload it..If I have not already? Call it a "Senior Moment" Sapper
