Mat CL1 is right, we mus not share images of dead, especially British. Don't forget that Salerno1943 photos were censored for these reason when they found Captain Brown. I suggest to forum member to share only germans killed (rare images took by veterans), because i'm also interested to see uniforms for example if tropical or not. I heard about this project but I think you can show graves in Fiocche/ Bivio Pratole British Cemetery, so you are not forced to show poor soldiers. About photos for Salerno1943 i'm researching. See you soon

So, it's fine to suggest a principle on the forum for British dead but allow a free for all of German dead because you have a personal interest?

I'm uneasy about a thread dedicated merely to images of casualties without context but more uncomfortable with the idea of censoring all imagery of what is after all the results of war, and then apply that to one nationality only.

IWM have images of British dead - I can recall one which even identifies a man by name, rank and unit - they've even been posted up on the forum but with context. German photographs of British war dead, often sold online, have also been shared here, often with the result of identifying units, locations and/or individuals. I also remember one online film featuring a mortally wounded man being evacuated, for which forum members by a process of deduction were able to identify casualties.

I and others have posted grim accounts of deaths (identified individuals) on the forum, from material in the public domain - should we censor those automatically as well? When often the family are searching for those answers?

The point is - I think thus far membership have handled things with respect without having to impose some blanket rule, particularly one which seems to suggest that respect and consideration should be afforded merely by virtue of nationality.

for example during Normandy landindgs were taken many photos in Salerno very few. I'm curious, did british shot photos on Pimple or White Cross hill or for example americans on Hill 424?

grazie che mi hai telefonato. credo che sia veramente una domanda stupida, scusa matteo se l'ho fatto a nome di Salerno1943 anche se non faccio parte dell'associazione. cancellerò l'account. ne creerò uno mio.

Sorry, i am not a member of salerno1943, so i made a "false" profile ( i know matteo but im not really a salerno1943 member) and i did a stupid question.

As far as I am concerned it referred to your area and era of interest, I had no knowledge of Italian historical Association names. You can change your username if that sorts out this 'local' problem.

Matteo ma come ti è venuto di andare a cacciarti in questo guaio, mo hai disonorato l'associazione salerno1943 fingendo di farne parte!
Sorry, he is not a member of salerno1943 and i asked to him to delete his topics and his name because is not legal to impersonate a member of an association. and this topic about dead is unreal, stupid and disrespectful. So i ask to delete this topics and his profile. He is my friend but i explaine that he wrote a stupid thing and also he must delete his profile. if he wants he will make a own profile, but without false informations as "Salerno1943". He probably thought "Matteo collaborate with salerno1943" and i am consequently a member of it.

and rightly some members are angry for this topic. So he has disonorated Salerno1943... stupid person. I ask again to delete his topics and profile, and i will phone him... he did a big stupid thing. I know that insults can be signalled, but Matsalerno1943 (Matteo is a common name but he never become member of any association) is stupid.

I've changed the OP's username and am going to leave it at that.

What you see here in the posts by other members is not anger, just pointing out why the original request and your suggestion won't likely get the responses you wanted. I also think you have to look at your own posts again to see what you've contributed. :)

I know him and he is a teacher who wanted to make a video for his class but I think it's strange ask this. I'm interested because only on prisoners or dead you can see uniforms but impersonate to be a member of salerno1943 is annoying. sorry for my anger but write this think and write things without permission of an association. Last thing is that this project is only an his idea and not of Salerno1943. I will observe him on this forum. It's a friend but he must don't write stupid things or disonorate an association.

So, as we italians say "amici come prima" (friends like before), somebody can give me documents on commandos about Salerno, i don't know what kind, for example prisoners interrogations or war diaries.

What you still don't seem to understand is that for most of us reading this "Salerno 1943" is not some Association but an actual battle. So again, as far as I see, when someone uses a battle/year combination in their username they're not claiming membership of your association. That's your interpretation and something for you & the other member to sort between yourselves. As far as I am concerned the matter was concluded when I changed his username.

Please stop justifying your similar request here for photos of dead Germans: first it was about identifying uniform types now it's about someone who knew your grandfather. Besides, you seem capable enough of searching the 'net etc yourself.

    Let's move on.
