After all of the calls in previous years to have the flag of Saint George banned because it is offensive to Muslims (crusades etc) , I can't believe that there have been no calls to ban Saint Georges day.

Maybe I am speaking (typing) to soon.

    Happy St George's Day.
My son was in a Parade in town on Sunday to help mark it.
Scouts Show Pride In Our National Day (from Swindon Advertiser)

THE spirit of St George's Day spilled on to the streets of Swindon as Scout groups from across the town took part in an annual parade.

He also had his first Hornby train set today for his birthday.

I wonder why the St Patrick's Day thread got more replies than this one did ?

Happy St. George's Day to all our English brethren on the board!!! :)

The reason that George cant match Paddy is because you never associated ALCOHOL with the day!!!!

Thanks Gerard, until today I never knew he was Patron saint of herpes, lepers, skin diseases & syphilis amongst other things.

Were you listening to "Today" this morning ? They listed all those delights , and then added that , since he was Turkish , we should celebrate by eating a kebab !

Happy Birthday to your son !

I work in a well renowned credit card company call centre with 800 people, and there is not one mention of St Georges day anywhere. Quite dissapointing.
