Sai Wan (China) Memorial, Hong Kong, China - South Wales Borderers - A Tribute.

Above the Sai Wan (China) Memorial, which lists 72 names, can be found the following inscription:

HERE WITH THEIR COMRADES IN SACRIFICE ARE HONOURED 72 MEN WHO DIED IN THE SERVICE OF THEIR COUNTRY IN THE WARS OF 1914-1918 AND 1939-1945 AND LIE BURIED IN CHINA.​

Rather than post about WW2 casualties, and given that these WW1 and WW2 graves are located within at least 3 cemeteries (based on CWGC documents going back over 100 years) I have no doubt that they will have very few visits and, as such, I want to share names from both wars. This post covers 17 names (16 with graves and 1 on a memorial - no known grave) of these men who served with the South Wales Borderers during WW1.
note: I have no idea as to the present-day location of any of these graves/cemeteries within China and this link, from the South Wales Argus, may be of interest to those who are involved in such research work:
