I've come across an entry in the London Gazette for a soldier who transferred to the General List with the rank of 2/Lt.

The entry describes him as previously being "S.C.I" with the Royal Scots Fusiliers.

Can anyone help with the abbreviation "S.C.I" please?

S.C.I - one of the 'Special Commissions' (I) not found - yet. Almost sure he has been removed to the general list from another commission list. From an infantry establishment to a corp or other.

A name ? Can cross reference to the Army List.
