Hi Someone wanted albert henry Phillips 7885644 RAC/11 SAS Bn 16/02/1941 from All Saints Churchyard, W/Brom This was a real swine to find. The cemetery is in about 3 or 4 parts and each is really overgrown. Spent more time on this one than all the other put together. (NOT complaining, though, enjoyed myself !!) (keeps failing to load 2 photos) Graeme
Hi While at All Saints Church, W/Brom found this memorial to Captain James EATON who had the honour of repeating Nelson's famous signal. Regards Graeme

Hi Graeme My Name is Glen Speak, Nephew of the quoted Archibald Savage who was my uncle. I wonder if you could offer some advice on how to get more information on Archie. Stories from my late grandmother tell of Archie's commitment to the regiment and although he had pneumonia signed himself out of hospital to continue training for D Day but collapsed on an airplane just before a jump. I would like to try and substantiate this if possible, as it was my understanding that if he had died on active service he should have a war memorial grave. i would like to know the best course of action to find out more. Also even though it is many years since i visited the grave with my grandmother i never noticed the misspelled inscription. kind regards
Hello Glen He is recognised as a casualty he is listed on the Commonwealth War Graves Commision (CWGC) web site. Also his grave whilst laying flat shows his name very clearly and will be checked by the CWGC every few years to ensure his name is still visible. Hello Glen I cannot help you with more information on your Uncle, but we always suggest to new forum members that they apply for their relatives service records first from the MOD Requests for personal data and service records - GOV.UK You know his regiment but if you have no idea of his service number just put his FULL date of birth on the form as they can usually find it from that. When you get them, we can point you in the direction of the war diaries. Lesley Edited: Clive beat me to the link!

Morning, I do not know anything about the family or their current whereabouts. As regards Charles, he enlisted in the Army at Lichfield on Thursday 27 June 1940. A non-swimmer, he drowned on an exercise at Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire. Part of the exercise entailed the crossing of a river during which Charles was swept downstream and drowned. Regards, Graeme
