I did a bit of research on google today, but couldn't find my answer anywhere, and thought someone here might be able to help me. My question is this: Did the Soviets have flag bearers at or near the front lines in any of the battles of World War 2? (i.e. charging up the banks of the Volga along with the other troops?) (not including the flying of the flag over the Reichstag) I know I have seen evidence of this from movies and games, but after all, that could just be embellishment. Can anyone provide any evidence of this? Help is greatly appreciated.
The Reichstag is the only one I've seen that is photographed, but I think the Soviets hauled their battle flags around, at least for ceremonial occasions.
