Hello, my uncle was a Lance Corporal in the Royal Tank Corps, based at Tidworth. While he was a serving soldier, he died in a road accident in 1928 on Andover Road, just outside Whitchurch, Hants.

To commemorate this, the army had a memorial cross laid into the ground at the side of the road at the site of the accident. However, I doubt whether it is still there, given that the area looks as if it has been developed since then.

I have an idea of the location from the newspaper cutting the MoD sent me, and I know it's a long shot but does anyone know if the army, or any other related organisation keeps maps or other records of these kinds of memorials? I tried the Local History Library at Whitchurch but they couldn't help. Thank you.
