This is a bit of a stab in the dark, but am trying to trace information on my late Grandad who served with the Royal Signals and worked up to the rank of Captain. The only information I have is that he served in West Africa, he married my Gran in 42 and was a Captain by then and was home following an injury.

Id like to know more about the unit he served with and what he would have encountered while there. There are plenty of photos but no stories as he died in 1970, 6 years before I was born!!!

Any directions would be a help

    Cheers

    Chris

Any chance you can post the photo's you have-They may help someone ID his unit.

Chris - it would also be a good idea to provide your GF's details to see if anyone can track down some relevant info about him.

Full name & his service number if you have it - even date of birth & location on enlistment can sometimes help.

    cheers

Thanks for the advise, at the moment all I know his name was Bill Wilcock, he was a corporal in the TA in liverpool. Am assuming he recieved his commission just after war broke out. He returned home in 42 which is when he got married to my gran (following an injury). After a short period he was posted over seas again. I dont have any more info at this time ill have to quiz my mum a bit more!
