I thought I might ask about this on 'TGW', but they simply have No Where to utter a word not directly connected ..... So; 'Simple' enough question, peeps: Would anyone know where the RMLI might have been stationed, in Canada, during the period of about 1890- 1900, please? Obviously, they could have been there much longer. But I have reason to strongly suspect I had relies out there, with them, in that decade. Thanks for any ideas
Steve - RMLI tended to be ship based during this period rather than land based overseas. You can check RM service records on the NA website: The National Archives | DocumentsOnline | Royal Marines Registers of Service
Cheers, Paul. I'll have a go ~ though, I must admit ~ 'lately' I've found their system completely onerous. I used to be able to pick out files easily. Now it all seems brick wall after brick wall, to dead end! What I'm after; Part of my family drop off the radar at a given point. Then I appear to have found one of the daughters slipping back into UK from Canada. Only plausible explanation is that the Father was out there with the RMLI and shipped them over. I thought, if I could find where he was likely based, I could Google enough to throw at the actual Canadian records ...... er ..... thus circumventing the dreaded NA! Anyway; In I go .....
