Picking up on Sappers comment my father claimed that his CO volunteered the entire Co-261 Field Park for the Airborne-I see from his service record that he was granted Airborne pay of 1shilling per day on 13th May 42.

Stone me! that must have put the fear of God amongst them. Field Park RE is a stores company. Nothing wrong with that. But they would have had only basic infantry training or experience
The picture attached is of Sapper Kenneth Clarke 9th Field Company RE (standing) his nephew has kindly given me permission to post the photo in hope that the gentleman sitting can be identified. After spending the morning looking over group photo's of 3 platoon, I am of the same opinion as Mr Clarkes nephew that the man seated is H.Pink KIA Arnhem.Your thoughts gentlemen please Having now seen a similar photograph I believe this picture was taken in Italy.
