I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the ww2 ops of the Signal in the Lincolnshire area?? I have other threads on here & was originally looking for info on the Home Guards. I now believe that the house I am researching was not used for the Home Guards but for the Regualar Army and it was a 24hr manned wireless communications centre for the Signals and the Officers lived there. The house is located in Laceby in Lincolnshire and is known as Kingsfield. Does anyone know anything about their operations in this area in the war?? I have looked on their wesite but do not know which regiment would have covered that area. I think there was a Lincolnshire one but is not now. I will contact them for more info as well but I know you have been helpful on here so I am hoping to try & find out more! Thanks Michelle
Couple of bits you may be interested in BBC - WW2 People's War - On the Home Front: In Lincolnshire and Penarth Royal Signals - Index Royal Signals Museum You may wish to contact the last two Cheers
Thanks - I found that BBC site yesterday actually when I was still wasting time looking for the Home Guards! The RSA site looks like you have to be registered to gain acess but I may be able to email them for info. I am still trying to make contact with the Lincoln Branch of the RSA who may have more info.
Okay, will do. It does say they do a research service but have to pay for it, it may be worth it though & at least the money's going to a good cause!
Does anyone have any info on the activity of the Signals in the Laceby area at all? I have drawn a blank with the museum as they need to know which regiment etc I want info on & I do not know that at all! PLEASE, PLEASE does anyone know anything or have any ideas where I can find out! Thanks
I think the Museum was your best bet....Don't they know where units were at certain times during the war?
Do you have any idea on the date? Another thought..........you may wish to contact the editer of 'The Wire Journal' Its the RCoS magazine and they are a wealth of knowledge. He's a retired Ozzie or a Kiwie Captain (in 2005 when last I spoke to him) from the signals-A nice chap
No they apparently do not know where the units where which I find a little strange really, but there you go! They did mention putting something in the Wire. I may have to recontact them & see if I can do that. Thanks
