    Hello,
I`m researching my Grandfathers war records. I have received his service and casualty form and it states that after his training it says the following....

    BM14340 (AG62) & 25/11/1940
    R A Depot
    Posted , Draft RCLCL

The only details I can find regarding Draft RCLCL is from the forces war records, can anyone shed some light on what is the Draft RCLCL please ?

    Many thanks Martin

    Hi Martin,

I had the same query in regards to my grandfather's records. His draft code was RZGHA. With the help of the forum it turns out that these letters are simply a code to identify a particular draft of men and does not actually stand for anything in itself as an acronym. See my thread here:

    Hi,

You don’t say where he was posted to overseas - and date of arrival there - but if you have a look at the 1940 sailings in this attachment you may be able to identify the convoy.

The draft code doesn’t help in identifying the ship but the date does - but be flexible as it might be 5 to 7 days later that the convoy sailed.

    Good Luck

    Steve
