As you say Pieter, more than likely an accident. Sadly casualties still continued long after the war was over.

    Rob,

I know he is from the Royal Canadian Artillery, but I did also post his headstone and records, as they all five died at 20 May 1945. I wonder what happened to these men. At 20 May 1945, the war was already over for about two weeks. Zwartewaal was, at the moment of the armistice, far beyond the frontline in German occupied territory. So they can't have died of wounds in a field hospital. Perhaps an accident?

Perhaps someone on this forum has some record who could provide us more information about these men? The fact that they are buried in Zwartewaal rules out that they would have been wounded in action and died later of this wounds in a field hospital.

I've put this one in my list of ones to look at when I go to Kew. The Canadians would have liberated that area, so I would not mind betting that 126 LAA were attached to one of their units.

These three men from the 133 Lt. A.A. also died after the German surrender. Probably also an accident. Bombardier King might have died of his wounds later?
