The above casualties in the 3 previous posts from 65 Anti-Tank Regiment were all killed in the same action.

    The war diary states that:-

In the afternoon 257 Battery had an unpleasant time and lost some guns and approximately 15 men missing. Fwd troops were forced to withdraw about 2000 yards. A total of 34 casualties were sustained today."

    Hi,
I am the daughter of a WWII vet who is now deceased. He began his military career in Britain in the British horse cavalry (I believe). He was a Canadian who couldn't wait to get to Britain to join. He served with the British army at the beginning of the war, and eventually signed with the Canadian army (apparently the pay was better). I am wondering if anyone has any information about Norman Ridout Allen.

    hello Jacquie
send off for his service records
Ministry of Defence | About Defence | What we do | Personnel | Service Records | Making a Request for Information held on the Personnel Records of Deceased Service Personnel
this should give you more info

    Jacquie

You will probably have to apply for the Canadian Records, which are free, as opposed to the British Records, which cost £30.

I can't find the address, but if you send a Private Message (PM) to Forum Member 17DYRCH, he will be able to tell you.

    Regards - Rob
