I am trying to track my uncle who was in the RA. I understood that he was killed in Norway on 12th February 1940. Is it possible that he was?
    thank you. EMM

Not possible my dear. The germans invaded us on April 9th 1940. No Allied forces were present prior to that.

    Eileen,

Hello and welcome to the forum.

If you have possession of your uncles full name and perhaps army number, you can use Geoff's search engine and the CWGC details will show you the date he was killed and the regiment.

There are many Royal Artillery minded members and if you post as much details as possible we will all try and help you out.

Has any member of the family obtained your uncles service record? This would show a lot of information that would be of help to you.

    Regards
    Tom

I've tried Geoff's Search engine and don't get any of those you've got, but another 3 as well.

    JESMONT FA 833775 14 BTY, 6 HAA REGT 12/02/
    MILLER F 1503135 3 BTY, 4 LT AA REGT 12/02/
    SUMNER M 1066854 248 BTY, 62 ANTI TANK REGT 12/02/1940

    Just realised Clive. You've picked 12 April 1940, not 12 February 1940.;)

Gosh, this is my uncle!! I knew he was listed at Brookwood Memorial, but that's as much as I know. How do I get information about him now?
    Many thanks, EMM

These are the details, where was he in February 1940? I have no record of his service, but with this information, I can now set about it! Sadly, his youngest brother died on HMS Greyhound off Greece in 1941.

    Hi Eileen,

As Alec Fraser is listed with no unit details, you have no choice other than to apply for service records. If you click on the following link, it will tell you how to apply. It will take a while before you get them, due to a high demand for this sort of information, but once you do get them, come back to us and we will see what can be done.
