Here's the others Owen couldn't find WO 166/9375 147 Company 1942 June-Dec. WO 166/13031 147 Company 1943 Jan.-Dec. WO 171/6209 147 Company 1945 Jan.-Oct. You sure they came back in August-The war diaries has the unit in Europe until Oct 1945. WO 171 is the NWE campaign files. At best I would say they came back as a unit for a month or so before going back. Either way it will be recorded in the diaries. Cheers Andy
My father was in this regiment as a driver. They travelled through Europe and was in the battle for the bridge too far at Arnhem. They were also cut off in a forest surrounded by Germans. He told me many stories and I have some photos of the regiment and a picture of them taking down the nazi flag. They may have come back for a very short while due to the weather conditions at sea as I remember my dad saying there was a sea crossing cancelled.
