    Hi,

This is quite a stab in the dark but I am looking for information regarding a gentleman who went by the nickname 'Ronnie'.

To be honest I'm not good with military history and need alot of help and advice. I have been given a photograph of a lady I have been researching and on that photograph there is another lady and two gentlemen. They are both in uniform. I am not sure but I believe they are in British Army Uniform.

On the back of the photograph has the year 1941 in Somerset, England.
There is also another photograph of the lady I am researching and 'Ronnie's' two younger sisters. On the back of this one there is Royal 6150, Yorkshire England 1941.

Is Royal 6150 of any relevance? I was thinking would it have been part of a service number or barracks address?

Does anyone have any idea of what the uniforms represent i.e what regiment? or nationality? Was I right in saying British?

Im sorry Im not good at this part of history, but Im hoping to get better.

It would be amazing if I could indeed track this 'Ronnie's' surname down, so if any one has any tips on doing this I would be so grateful.

    Thank You Deborah

I have attached the said photos, please have a look and see what you think:D

"Royal 6150" looks to be a Liverpool central phone number.

The exchange name Royal - ROY(al) was equivalent to dialling 709. If you can search the old Liverpool phone book and find ROYal 6150 then you might be a step closer.

I can't place the name and number in any common military context.

    Hello debz,

Both are in British/Commonwealth uniform. The man on the left, as you look at the photograph, has what looks like a white lanyard over his left shoulder and the only reference I can find on this so far indicates tanks - Queens Own Hussars, but maybe another outfit.

Worth investigating who wore white lanyards over the left shoulder!

    Best,

    Steve.

I am puzzled by the words "Kathleen with Ronnie's sisters" There are only two women in the photo and the words infer three. Is Kathleen also a man's name?

Thank you very much for both your replies.

In reply to Rich, Im not sure why it would be a ref to a Liverpool number when it has written underneath Yorkshire, England? But I will look into this more.

In reply to Steve, I never even noticed the lanyard over the shoulder. So this is definitely worth investigating.

The lady I am researching may have been the birth mother of my grandfather. She was a land army girl who came over form Ireland to Rotherham. He was adopted straight from birth. The main reason for the adoption was that the father was an american pilot who had been shot down or missing. I have recently been in contact with the lady's only other son who found these photos and believed 'Ronnie' may be the father and the american part a smoke screen as the dates add up more than to when his father an american solider joined up.

If you know or know of anyone who would know of information regarding ww2 1943 Rotherham Doncaster area I would be very grateful.

    Thank you again, Debz x

Sorry, I don't think I've explained this clearly.

I was given two pictures. The one with the four adults
from left >right Fred, Nora, Kathleen, Ronnie was taken in Somerset,England 1941.

The picture of the back of the photo with the writing 'Royal 6150. Yorkshire, England. Kathleen with Ronnies Sisters.' Had a picture of Kathleen and two young girls in front of a house.

I assumed that possibly the picture of the 4 adults could've have been a weekend away in Somerset and they were all from Rotherham.

Sorry Im new to all this and its taking me a while to get my head round it.
