The words "Draft ROBGG" occurs on my father's service record. Please can anybody help with a translation.

ROBGG - is merely the draft code for embarkation - without it - you didn't board ship

a fact that didn't strike us until we were 100 miles off shore too far to swim - the next

entry would denote a landing place and date twelve days to Algiers - six weeks to Egypt

    via the cape etc

    Cheers

Many thanks for your swift response.
In my fathers case two days later he was in India and TOS to Royal West African Frontier Force.

To put a bit of flesh on the bones of how a draft worked, have a look at mine.

    17/4/43 Posted to Draft REAYK
22/3/43 Posted to 228 AA Training Rgt at Congleton where it assembled
    10/4/43 Embarked from the UK
    21/4/43 Dis-embarked at Algiers
22/5/43 Arrived at 49th LAA at Tunis

Good luck with the rest of your research !

    Ron
