Is there anywhere i could get some information on Robert Mayers, he was born in Blackburn in 1889 to James and Hannah Mayers.

    Hello and welcome

Commonwealth war graves commission has his number as 22697
    http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/574473/MAYERS,%20R

If you can get to your local library you can get Ancestry for free. You may find his medal card and perhaps his service records there-unless of course any members post the details up here first :)

That card shows entitlement to British War and Victory medals so he wasn't Overseas before 1916 otherwise he would also have a 1914 or 1915 Star.
His medals had to be reissued as they had been returned for amendment (perhaps spelling) and were finally reissued in 1934, 17 years after his death.
At least someone cared enough about him to want his medals.

I know you probably have all this, but just in case it allows other Pals to find further information for you....
MAYERS, R. Rank: Corporal. Service No: 22697. Date of Death: 08/06/1917.
    Regiment/Service: Royal Fusiliers. 4th Bn.
Grave Reference: IV. H. 23. Cemetery: FAUBOURG D'AMIENS CEMETERY, ARRAS
The Commonwealth section of the FAUBOURG D'AMIENS CEMETERY was begun in March 1916, behind the French military cemetery established earlier. It continued to be used by field ambulances and fighting units until November 1918. The cemetery was enlarged after the Armistice when graves were brought in from the battlefields and from two smaller cemeteries in the vicinity.

It looks as though his father never got to see his son's medals:-
Mayers, James, of 132 Shear Brow, Blackburn died 23 April 1932. Administration London 12 May to Hannah Mayers, widow and William Mayers, salesman.
For what it's worth, both William (obviously) and Thomas survived (well, no CWGC record matches).
It may be that Robert's widow remarried for the sake of their young child(ren?) and didn't complete the Additional Information field.

There was only one other death that day,and he lies next to William, comrades even unto death.

It is possible the War Diary may have some reference, as Albert was a Military Medal holder...
