Oh, I do, I've just come back from another physiotherapy session trying to remove a tongue permanently attached to my cheek.
Oh, I do, I've just come back from another physiotherapy session trying to remove a tongue permanently attached to my cheek. The Channel 4 documentary is called 'The King In The Car Park', surely if the DNA tests etc. were negative it would be called 'Some Bloke We Found In A Car Park' ?
I'll assume that this being a pre-XXth Cent. site it would have been a horse park before, so it would be natural if Richard III had some association to it.
He probably got killed while being stuck waiting for his serf to pay at the barrier. So the actual cry was 'my kingdom for someone with a parking ticket to insert into the reader so that I can exit!' No wonder Shakespeare shortened that. All the best Andreas
I'll assume that this being a pre-XXth Cent. site it would have been a horse park before, so it would be natural if Richard III had some association to it. "A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse!"... is just another Tudor lie. He never actually said that.

Almost surprised as the hairs on the back of my neck stood up when the DNA woman confirmed it. An English King found, it would appear.
Got to agree. Quite fascinating - and it's good to see that Richard lll is being re evaluated in history as not so much the bad guy as he's been portrayed. Well done Leicester Uni (although I do think he should be re interred at York if that was his wish).
I caught this on BBC World Service and agreee that it was excellent viewing. Perhaps this will result in a rush of Historical facts regarding Richards Reign. Regards Tom
and it's good to see that Richard lll is being re evaluated in history as not so much the bad guy as he's been portrayed. ...as compared with...? There was one very interesting historical one buried in all the detail this morning.... All the chroniclers agreed for YEARS that Richard actually died bravely, fighting to the death, when he and his men charged Henry Tudor's party as it was observed in transit across part of the battlefield.... ...but Richard seems to have died with his hands tied. Looks like all those somewhat "partial" chroniclers gave him a cleaner death than Henry did!!! :p
Hmmmmm come the Funeral wonder if it will be the the Yorkshire Regiment or one of the Guards Regiments providing the escort - the news must have the Royal event planners in a spin . . . . .

Well done Leicester Uni (although I do think he should be re interred at York if that was his wish). As much as I agree that history should be re-evaluated based on new findings, I sincerely hope it doesn't go to far. By all means present us with the evidence, but don't go to the other extreme and paint R3 as a heroic martyr and H7, the Tudors and Shakespeare as super villains. I can foresee plenty of pseudo historians taking this route to the detriment of actual history. Regardless, this mornings revelations were very exciting!
but don't go to the other extreme and paint R3 as a heroic martyr A bit late on that - several decades too late, actually! The REAL Richard!
Well, in four hours time we will know all about it. Richard III, King in the car park, at 21:00 hrs on Channel 4 this evening. Ron
