Ricardo Street School bombing 1st/2nd November 1940 ,Poplar London

In memory of five members of the London Auxiliary Fire Service killed by enemy action on the night of 1st/2nd November 1940, while on duty on this site, where once stood Ricardo Street School then in use as Sub Fire Station 24Z.

This must have been the attack by He 111 of KG 55. They had the mission to bomb the Victoria Docks

 

Is there a reason why there are two plaques next to each other saying exactly the same thing?

 

The red one is was placed by the Fire Brigade Union the other is a local council plaque
