This response seems to fall in line with what I know about my father's RAF Samuel Hagan service record which has been prevously posted. The below names were scribbled on the back of a picture of my mother. http://ww2talk.com/f...d-of-my-father/ http://ww2talk.com/f...qualifications/ Dear Sir, Thank you for your enquiry, the museum does not have any information regarding Captain Eldridge or Sqdn Ldr Read, however we have a partial service record for Gp Capt Insall who was appointed to command 3 RAF Depot at RAF Padgate in April 1939, it was renamed in 1940 3 Recruit Centre he remained there until September 1943 when the record was last updated. Padgate was a receiving centre for new recruits where they would have been given their uniforms and been given some basic training before being posted to another trade specific training school. As highlighted by my colleague it would be advisable to obtain a copy of his service record from the MoD to properly ascertain the dates and units with which he served. Yours sincerely, Andrew Dennis Assistant Curator Archive & Library Royal Air Force Museum Hendon London NW9 5LL T. 020 8358 4909 Squadron Commander Captain Horace Malcolm Eldridge, MC who became a F/Lt 1 September 1939.
