Any help or thoughts would be appreciated thank you

Found this headstone a few years ago
No John Wells died 15/11/42 (could be a middle name)
I was possibly thinking the name on the headstone placed there due to be a family friend

Closest I have (at the moment) is the below casualty due to the fact it is close to the cemetery and matches the death date

    ABLE SEAMAN BERNARD JOHN CROOT
    Service Number: C/SSX 19083
    Regiment & Unit/Ship
    Royal Navy

    H.M.S. Avenger

    Date of Death
    Died 15 November 1942

    Age 22 years old

    Buried or commemorated at
    CHATHAM NAVAL MEMORIAL

    53, 3.

Deacs Well i am from Cumbria.

Hi Clive you have the right connection there it looks like Queenie divorced John Frederick and remarried a Ernest William Henry Wells and John was Williams stepson.
Her son Bernard John passed away on 15 November 1942 in Service, Saskatchewan, Canada, at the age of 22.

    Hello Mike

I have only placed that casualty there because his name is John and lived in Barnet
I cant find a Wells who died on that day
I was assuming they could be family friends and his name added to the headstone( no idea why they would do that)
possibly I am miles out (I have a couple more like this)

So just taking pot luck at the moment

    regards
    Clive

    I expect this phrase:
Refers to him being there for pilot training and Google indicates there were several such flying schools in the province. For example see: No. 13 Service Flying Training School RCAF - Wikipedia
The CWGC database does not help, although there are many RAF / RAFVR who died in Canada that month.

Yes that is how it is Clive William is John's stepson. Bleeding nuisance when they change thier first names but that is the way it was a lot of the times back then and sometimes even now.

I copied the Saskatchewan, Canada detail from a family tree on Ancestry so maybe this information was passed down from the family ?
