The ‘C’ Company CO was Major Callingham, who was wounded in the left arm.

The 50th (Northumbrian) Division, of which the 9th Bn Durham Light Infantry, 151st Infantry Brigade were part, had been given Seclin as part of their area of responsibility on 29 March 1940 some 4.5 years earlier in the BEF era. The 9th DLI had been based at nearby Carvin back then.

Yes I have … as I’m new to this forum perhaps you could advise if it is ok to post his photo on here. I’ve tried to get his service records but have not yet had any answer from the military. He had one surviving sister who is now 86 years old. I will be seeing her tomorrow.

Thank you so much Paul. I’m sure his sister will be grateful too. We remember our soldier with love, honour and respect. Is there any chance we can see the page you write?

    Hello Ann,

Thank you for posting those photographs . When you get his service records you may find he has at least another Star (or two) [?] The photograph with the two brothers meeting has him in an (Aertex) tropical shirt . North Africa or Sicily service or both [!] Just an observation.
Can I ask where his current medal entitlement was taken from please .

    Thanks

    Kyle

I honestly don’t know where the medal entitlement I have was from. I’ve always thought he should have more but don’t know how to find out. I’ve tried to chase up my request for his service records by lodging a complaint with the MOD who have asked Glasgow to respond to me but nothing yet. Any help from you knowledgeable people on here would be most welcome.
