That is an airborne helmet. Were 2 Ox & Bucks LI not at Normandy? Pegasus Bridge if I recall and arriving in gliders.

Already checked the nominal roll for the coup de main at Pegasus bridge, no Rogers in Ox and Bucks B coy contingent.

    Hey,
Information from wartime is a good way. I try to contact Andy Gorman...why not !
May be "ROGERS" was in the rest of the B Coy who didn't participate to "coup de main".

    Hi Xavier,

The SOFO Museum site lists over 200 Rogers that served with an Oxfordshire Regiment from pages 178 to 190 under "R". Unfortunately if they did serve with the Oxf & Bucks Light Infantry the battalion number is not specified. For example the man wtid45 pointed to is listed on page 181.

    Number: 13020373
    Rank: Pte
    Name(s): Eric Foy
    Surname: ROGERS
Regiment: Oxf & Bucks Light Infantry

So your man might be there, but you would need more specific info to narrow it down.

    Regards ...

If "ROGERS" landed on DDAY in Normandy, it's very possible he fought in the 15 or 16 platoons 2nd Battalion Ox & Bucks. After,
if it was a new recruit integrated into the unit following the many losses, I agree with you Cee, we need more information...

No doubt about the badge on the helmet ? Ox and bucks badge ?

    Xavier,

The Lightbobs site has a page devoted to steel helmets worn by the Regiment. The colour scheme and positioning of the Regimental helmet flash looks the same despite yours being somewhat faded.

    STEEL HELMETS
