    Just voted.

I liked the old system that showed who voted and comments.

    I am with Tom.

Good to see who and the reason for the rep in comment form.

I feel bad reps should only be for mods (if at all) and not visible.

If other members have a problem with any member or post, they should report it to a mod to adjudicate and sort.

    Cheers

So how did I end up with XXX reputation points, and what can I do with them?

    I don't get it.

    All the best

    Right.

I cannot reset the rep points. It is beyond my pay grade.

Only option seems to be just to turn on the 'members can see who repped' thingy.
The only reason I haven't yet done this is because the previous system was private and this one's open, so it'll expose who repped what from the previous system.

Any serious objections to me just opening things up?
I'll leave it a week or so before doing it so we can hear from anyone who objects.

    Cheers,
    ~A

Seriously - I tried another forum and got something like 100 positives and then one Negative.

I was destroyed for the day - well my ego is very fragile

You will regret Negatives (the nutters use this button all the time)

Keep just Positives - sunny side up

We've had the neg option for some time, I haven't noticed any overuse - even by nutters like me ;)

If anyone now can't see who left a rep: Shout out.
(Hit the little Green or Red number on a post, bottom right, if it has one).

Due to parts of this software apparently being designed by someone who never actually used a forum, I'm afraid 'people' flagged up as spammers can still leave negative rep for people.
Appears to be no obvious way to clean this up, so I can only apologise to those affected by these strangely petulant little tossers. At the touch of a button they can have posts deleted, account banned, but still retain certain priveleges.

Digging about (settings can be buried in the most peculiar menu - suspect there'll be something in usergroup area... it's a very counter-intuitive set of buttons there) but in the interim, don't be surprised if I just turn the system off for a while.

If I don't - when you see a post that has a few weird negative pips, do feel free to give that person a positive to balance things in some small way against these gits.

Hmm. Having made a profile and banned as a spammer I have no idea how they do this.
Unless they're doing it before getting binned.
Now to try harder on clearing it up.

If I can't, I'm afraid I may turn the dreaded 'like' system on instead... just to see what happens.

Why doesn't the poll have the option of selecting having "no reputation system"?

    I agree.

I'm an active member on one other board and things have deteriorated a little since the software was updated and a 'like' function was added. It stifles disagreement as one can feel as if one is in a minority - and disagreement is nascent debate - which is a good thing.
