It is 1800hr NZDT and I’m putting my feet up after Christchurch’s Remembrance Day Parade. Traditionally the day is marked on the 11th November, but this year marks the 150th anniversary of the formation of the School Cadet Forces.
For the fourth year, since the 2011 earthquake, the service was held around the statue of Sgt Henry Nicholas VC, by the Avon diver. The Cadets marched on lead by the NZ Army Band. Navy, Army and Air Force Cadets marched on parade. The inspection was carried out by the NZ Deputy Chief of NZ Defence Force.
It is easy to highlight the bad side of the youth of today, but to see these young people on parade, taking pride in themselves.
As those who are rising now and heading to your remembrance, we all embrace the common theme,
    Least we forget.
