Details of the above loss.... 8 February 1942 22 OTU Wellington IC T2714 DD-C Op. Training Took off from Wellesbourne Mountford for a navigation exercise during which the wireless equipment failed. The crew apparently overflew the Isle of Man and failing to recognise the southern shore of Scotland turned east and at around 1430 hours flew into Burn Tod Gill near Ireby, 9 miles north east of Cockermouth, Cumberland.
