    Died: 3/12/1943
    Buried: Bari War Cemetery
    Son of Herbert Cornelius and Clara Priscilla Terry; husband of Lillian Rosalind Terry, of Northfield, Birmingham.

    An old post but from my records: - the ship was FORT ATHABASKA. Lest we forget.

    He would not be in the list because Maritime Royal Artillery DEMS gunners are noted against their regiment and not the ship they died on - this makes tracing them difficult.
    Also, these online lists are rarely complete. Gunners although not MN, signed on as crew and are therfore entitled to be listed as such.

    SS Fort Athabaska was one of the many ships sunk by German bombers during a major air raid on Bari on 2 December 1943. Added to which one of the damaged ships released mustard gas accounting for further loss of life.
