    An unfortunate accident

    Returned Officer Shot

    Lieutenant William Leonard Knowles. recently returned from overseas, died in Caulfield Military Hospital, Melbourne, on Saturday, from a pistol shot wound. He was staying with Colonel and Mrs. Gray, of East St. Kilda. Col. Gray was cleaning one of the pistols that Lieut. Knowles had brought home with him from abroad when it dropped and went off and Lieut. Knowles was shot in the chest.
