Just had this email in admin account.

"I would like to thank who ever put up my father's name today in memorium.
Capt George Fitzroy Cordy-Simpson 3rd Carabiniers died April 18th 1945 . He was returning in his tank in N Germany when hit by a sniper. One shot the only casulty.
I was born 6 weeks later - so never knew him. So sad for my mother Patricia.
I am researching his life in the Army. If anyone knows of anything relevant please contact me. He served in India and N. Africa as well as Germany."

I must say that he must have been serving in another regiment as 3rd Carabiniers only fought in the Far East

My great-great uncle, Lance-Corporal James Gibson served in your father's company it would seem. He was killed 18th January 1945 and I have a letter in my possession from your father addressed to my great-great uncle's parents consoling them on the loss of their son. Captain Cordy-Simpson was clearly a very eloquent man and wrote some touching words. Couldn't have been an easy job having to write those letters. I know this post is over ten years old, but on the off-chance you're still wondering, the regiment in which my uncle and your father served was 1st Royal Tank Regiment, as written by your father on the letter, and as seen on the cap badge of photographs of my uncle, not the 3rd Carabiniers. I've recently inherited these letters and just thought I would google the Captain's name, and I came across this. Sad to learn that your father met the same tragic fate as my great-great uncle at such a late stage in the war.
