Lt Dube obviously fell at what was known as the 'Battle of the rivers' - which were tough enough in the summer but wintertime - they were nightmares as one after the other were troublesome with the Lamone - Munia - Vecchio - and the Senio where the whole army spent the rest of the winter....

The main attack over the well defended Naviglio Canal started on the 12th december with the 12th Bde of 5th Armoured and and 3rd Bde of !st Div and the next day 2nd Bde was hauled in - then 1st bde so it was tough battle which lasted many days as the enemy had finally brought over well rested reinforcements from the 5th Army's sector
    Cheers
