    Hello Fruitcake,

    As you may know the 2nd Essex were part of 50th (Northumbrian) Division on two occasions; in 1940 with the BEF and D-Day (and shortly thereafter). I have posted about this on the forum in the recent past.

    Do you know the circumstances of Captain Butler's death, it is so near the end of hostilities in the European theatre?
