    Wednesday, 10th December 1941.

    No.120 Squadron RAF Coastal Command.
    Liberator I AM926 'F'
    Op. Transit Flight

    Crashed about 1830 hrs in the Ochil Hills near Stirling, Scotland, while on a transit flight from RAF Dyce, Scotland, to RAF Nutts Corner, Northern Ireland.

    Possibly descending through cloud to pin-point position – struck hill in cloud or after breaking cloud. Crashed in low viability, no witnesses.

    To Scottish Aviation Ltd Prestwick 29 May 1941 for mods. Converted to Liberator I. Operationally equipped with ASV and 20mm cannon
    Scottish Aviation Ltd to 120 Squadron 13 September 1941
    Carried out 120 Squadrons first attack on a U-boat 22 October 1941*
    Flew into Tarmangi Hill near Clackmannan 10th December 1941 on return from Dyce to Nutts Corner.

    Liberator I AM926 F/120 carried out the types very first attack on a U-boat on 22 October 1941. Piloted by F/L. T M. Bulloch and crew, the attack was made on U 203, the U-boat was caught on the surface and was violently shaken by a stick of three depth-charges. On board the U-boat almost all the electrical equipment failed, rudder, hydroplanes and compass were damaged, the compressor bed-plate and motor-room bulkhead were cracked. The crew of U 203 were able to repair most of the damage.

    On 10 December 1941 AM926 F/120 was airborne at Dyce on a transit flight to Nutts Corner when at about 1830 hours the aircraft crashed in the Ochil Hills near Alva, Scotland, all five crew being killed.
