Got these from a chap at a car boot sale when I was in Normandy. He is a member of a local diving club and these came from an ammunition ship off Juno Beach which had exploded.

Pretty sure they are from a 25-pounder.

Nice photos. Is that corrosion or something akin to barnacles?

Yes, those are barnacles due to being on the sea-bed for 60+ years.

Makes you wonder what is under the ground , buried in the hedges and just off shore.
    Nice fine Paul.

There's no gain in it, Philip. It's just a solid lump of brass with sea shells and barnacles stuck to it.

Absolutely. Always better safe than sorry when it comes to ordnance.

Sadly, I was unable to 'collect' these bits that caught my eye...

When I was last in Normandy I swear I saw a Panzer IV road wheel in a pile of tyres. When we checked it out it was certainly military but was sadly more modern. We saw a good amount of stuff around the Odon, sure there are pictures somewhere, of original fieldworks/reused materials all over the shop.

Just checked out your website, Swiper. Good stuff!

I can't see your profile photo too well but it looks like it includes a friend of mine, Emrys Davies (4th Bt Welsh Regt). Could it be?

In fact, the setting looks familiar. Is it France?
