    Afternoon all,

I'm looking into a set of ships moving reinforcements. Can anyone decipher this? Anyone know what ships they refer to or if the codes would give any info towards dates/locations?

    Thanks

Slightly guessing here but it may tie in with other information. Do you have the remainder of this file or only the page you have attached?
I think this is one page from the convoy embarkation list and refers only to the troops embarked on one ship.
I cannot find a Convoy WS25P however there is a Military Convoy 25 departing UK 18/12/42 arriving Durban 17/01/43.
    WS Convoys
Amongst this convoy is the MV Britannic and her Pennant No. was 41 which would agree with the P41 of your page (top left). If you have the whole file I could cross ref the other Pennant Nos to see if they tally. Have you any clues that point in this direction?
In the column marked 'Nature of Unit' I would take IR to mean Immediate Replacement as opposed to GBD (General Base Depot?) Pool.
Have you worked out all the Unit abbreviations OK?

    Thanks Tully/Tim,

It's only the Phantom replacements that I'm interested, however the other sheets list: P15, P18, P19, P23, P41 and P42.

Do you know what the bracketed Hamble part would be in reference to?

Phantom were fighting in North Africa.

    Thanks

Looks like it was a bad guess. Only one other ship in WS25 has a matching Pennant No. Back to the drawing board.

    Thanks for looking Tim,

I have stumbled across a Kew file, whilst looking for something else, it would appear that they were ships sending replacements for Operation Torch.

Will have to get the file copied by Andy when all this blows over. I'm of the assumption that it may just hold the same details I have, not sure whether it will list names or not, but we will see.

Thanks for all of the help from you both.
