Please help-Sapper/Corporal/Acting Sergeant Joseph Freeman-mentioned in dispatches-was he part of Transportation group and why is his regiment sited as AFHQ-he was MID'd for leading recce party into salerno-recommended for BEM-any clarification of unit/action or additional information appreciated

So was he to do with railways? His service record goes onto mention monte cassino-would this tie in?

 

I have a couple of suggestions:

1. Post a scan of the page from the records showing his postings and units etc, then we can have a look, and the members here can give advice on where to look with more than an (un?)educated guess as I did above, [my original reply was the result of a Google search]; and
