That's bloody brilliant. Just looked up the 3 Wilts lads. Photo there & grave in the plot highlighted. Superb find!
Jim Would that ALL the CWGC cemeteries were listed in that manner ! Well done to the site designers and Jim for drawing our attention to it Ron

Have just done a bit of digging, and came up with this. Looking forward to the next two cemeteries and informatics of the Higher Secondary Education School “M. Bartolo” of Pachino (Sicily). Since 2003 on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Allied landing in Sicily (Husky Operation), my school has involved students in a search about witnesses, documents and videos relating to that event. All This has let students create a DVD which was officially delivered even to the IWM (Imperial War Museum) in London. After 6 years, my organization is the promoter of another initiative to commemorate the fallen Anglo-Americans who are still buried in the 3 war cemeteries of the Commonwealth in Agira, Syracuse and Catania. The project consists of the creation of a website where the user ca exam the virtual 3 cemeteries with photo at 360°. For every fallen you could also see the location of the commemorative plaque and a card with descriptive data about the role, the time, the cause of death and other information. A form, finally, will give the chance for authorized users to send news, pictures and documents relating to each fallen. Relatives and/or friends of veterans could thus contribute to the creation of a real online archive available for all users of the web. A translator would let then text be understandable by the user in all languages. (You can see a demo under at BRITISH VIRTUAL WAR CEMETERY SYRACUSE by 1°ITIS M. Bartolo - PACHINO ) The product, as an interfaced form, could be integrated to the existing sites, and then It would be given to the leaders of Canadian and British governments’ services and their embassies in Italy. By this letter I want to make you aware of cultural and educational objectives of the project and, therefore, I would be very happy for your cooperation in a report certain groups of former ex-combatants who where involved in the campaign of Sicily in order to gather various material about the fallen. I believe that the above is a way to keep alive in new generations the historical memory and a way to pay a tribute to those who, at that time, gave their young lives for the freedom of people. I trust you will be able to cooperate with us in this matter and look forward hearing from you soon. Yours faithfully, Eng. S. Giannitto (email: s_giannitto AT hotmail.it ) Have just fired off an email to see what progress has been done on the 2nd and 3rd cemeteries
When I got in this evening, I had the following reply from Sebastiano Giannitto, the guy responsible for the syracuse virtual project. He has attached a couple of links that his students have compiled P Dear Phil, Thanks for having appreciated our project. It’s a school project that I wanted to start with my students so that they could understand the sacrifice of so many young people for the freedom of my country. I was motivated also for the affection that binds me to your land and I am sorry if I don't speak your language well. The next two projects will be Agira and Catania war cemeteries. However I would like to send you a DVD realized by my school for the 60th anniversary of the Operation Husky in Sicily and of which you can preview at the following address: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DpmlXT6YOI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKL20H1BhKQ&feature=related Best Regards
Phil, I would just like to reiterate what has been said already. It is a great pity that all CWGC are not online like this. It is truly magnificent. The links that you provided are well made videos. Regards Tom
Ive emailed Sebastiano back, and recommended that he comes and has a look at this site too, so may be we will see him soon enough P
Verrieres: Excellent info! Thank you for tracking it down. It opened once for me but when I came back to it, it would not open. You must have created a flood of interest. Phil: Great result to your email.

Just saw (probably) the site creator was sat in 'awaiting activation', I've manually activated his profile so hopefully he can take a bow here for demonstrating how to do these things so well. ~A

Hello! Thanks to Phil for introducing me to this wonderful site! I'm a teacher from Pachino and I’m taking care of Anglo-Canadians war cemeteries in Sicily I am happy to inform you that the project , pertinent to the on line virtual visit of Siracusa war cemetery, started from my school, has been concluded. You can see the preview to the following address: http://www.mbartolo.net/war-cemetery ( More info to the site http://www.primopachino.it/progettiweb/WarCemetery/index.html ) We have worked together with the office assigned to the management (CWGC at Rome), that has permitted us to publish the photos and it will have the exclusivity. One of my student Savo Pelligra has contributed most of the other for the services of the site. We are already thinking about Agira war Cemetery, and this autumn will be completed Catania war Cemetery with its 2029 fallen. We have thought to inform directly the interested regiments via e-mail and invite them to provide us the news that will be automatically inserted in a database. So, we would like to pay a right tribute to all those who have sacrificed their life for the ideals of freedom and brotherhood among peoples. Eng. S. Giannitto

Sebastiano, welcome to the forum, and glad you could make it. We are all looking forward to seeing how things develop with the next two cemeteries P
