I'll start this thread here as a sort of test. First up some photos during the reinforcement of Hong Kong, 1941: HMCS Prince Robert (with maybe HMS Ceres in behind) Hong Kong Honolulu
HMCS Prince Robert at Esquimalt after the Hong Kong trip. HMCS Prince Robert, fore and aft, Hong Kong Hong Kong
Nice photo's thanks for posting. found this related sites on the web. http://www.airmuseum.ca/rcn/ http://www.angelfire.com/trek/rcn/prmem01.html
Not strictly RCN but related, Queen Elizabeth in Esquimalt, I am not certain but I believe that she had her degaussing ring fitted at this time.
HMCS Quatsino sporting 'jig-saw' camoflage HMCS Chedabucto before she headed for the East coast, Esquimalt, late 1941. Although these ships did not have their pennant number painted on at this time, they flew their numbered pennants when entering the harbour.
Mail call(?) on the quarter-deck, probably HMCS Dawson Bofors gun, on the jetty, Esquimalt, in the snow (who says it never snows 'in the Pacific?')January 1942
Another 'Elizabeth', Princess Elizabeth, Canadian Pacific coastal liner. Some of these ships got grey paint but I don't have any of PE in camo. Princess Marguerite in grey.
Not strictly RCN but related, Queen Elizabeth in Esquimalt, I am not certain but I believe that she had her degaussing ring fitted at this time. Great pictures. I saw the Queen Elizabeth on her last visit to New York. She was alone in a two ship slip on the Hudson River so my grandfather was able to take his 28 footer right in there with her. I remember waving to some cooks through their open galley loading hatch in the side of the hull. Dave
