Hi Michael, Thanks for the update. Pleased to see that you are still doggedly pursuing this issue and trying to get clarification of your fathers military history. Don't know what to make of Colonel Crabbe's comment about his award of 39/45 Star being for home service with an Anti Aircraft unit since - as I'm sure you appreciate - such service does not fit the strict medal entitlement criteria. Henry Peuleve, the supposed anomaly referred to in Colonel Crabbe's letter, has an SOE Personal file at the National Archives (HS9/1178/6) so it would appear that his military service outside of REME is not undocumented. There is also the recommendation for the award of a DSO in WO 373/98/285 and a claim for compensation in FO 950/1485.
